Project
This schematic proposal for a bespoke single-family residence was developed as a key focal point within a broader low-rise residential masterplan. The comprehensive development was conceived as a multi-typology enclave, strategically integrating a diverse housing program that encompasses detached, semi-detached, and terraced dwellings to foster a cohesive yet varied community scale.
Site and Contextual Integration
Situated in Kambanite, a southern district of Sofia, the site benefits from a highly privileged contextual boundary, sitting immediately adjacent to the natural threshold of Vitosha Nature Park. The design response was heavily informed by this location, seeking to harmonize the built environment with the surrounding topography and expansive mountain vistas. The conceptual massing and orientation were driven by a desire to blur the lines between the residential development and the bordering natural reserve.
Conceptual Framework and Legacy
Commissioned to establish the foundational architectural identity of the development, our studio spearheaded the initial schematic design phase. While our involvement concluded prior to the construction phase, the project served as a critical catalyst for the client. We established a rigorous conceptual framework that successfully defined the volumetric articulation, contextual scale, spatial syntax, and overarching architectural vernacular.
This robust initial vision provided the client with the clarity and spatial understanding necessary to move the project forward, seamlessly guiding the subsequent detailing and realization by the local Architect of Record. |
